Sillore Editorial

Methodology

This page explains how Sillore decides what to show and recommend, so you can judge it for yourself.

Editorial method

Sillore’s guides are written by Sillore Editorial in its own words. Factual claims are checked against sources that Sillore has the right to cite, and each guide shows its sources, dates and correction path. Descriptive text from other websites is not copied.

What the advisor considers

The advisor takes structured answers: notes and accords you like or want to avoid, a budget, an occasion, the climate, and how noticeable you want the scent to be. It may also consider fragrances you already own or want, only if you provide them.

  • Each fragrance receives points for matches and loses points for clashes with your answers.
  • A fragrance needs a minimum qualifying score to be suggested; the advisor returns between three and five suggestions, or says it does not have enough evidence.
  • Every suggestion lists its strongest reasons, cautions and assumptions, and how each answer contributed.
  • Words you type are mapped to Sillore’s own vocabulary and any mapping or unrecognised word is shown to you.

What the comparison does

A comparison lines up two to four reviewed fragrances on notes, accords, price context, occasion, climate, intensity and performance. Where a fact is not confirmed the comparison says so instead of guessing.

Evidence and its limits

Occasion, climate, intensity and performance descriptions come from reviewed decision profiles with an evidence date. Evidence older than a year is treated as stale and is not used for recommendations. These are editorial judgements, not measurements: skin, weather and application change how any fragrance behaves.

Commission independence

Recommendations and comparisons are calculated before any retailer is looked up. Offer data is fetched afterwards and is never an input to scoring, order, reasons or saved results. Adding, removing or changing an offer cannot change what the advisor or comparison returns.

Versions

The current methods are named advisor-methodology.v1, comparison-methodology.v1 and advisor-profile.v1. Results and saved decisions record the version that produced them.
